Rs 72, 12,548 collected for Abhimanyu’s house

IDUKKI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will hand over the keys of the house constructed for the family of Abhimanyu, a student of Maharaja’s College killed in a clash between student political outfits, Monday morning at 10.30 am. The keys of the house will be handed over to his family at the public meet convened in Kottakamboor in Idukki. Abhimanyu reached college from his one-room house in Vattavada with big dreams fighting poverty and crisis. Abhimanyu was an activist of the revolutionary student movement who wanted a radical change in all ranks of the society.

He became active in organisational activities while working as SFI Idukki district committee member. Abhimanyu, a second year BSc student, was murdered by SDPI campus front activists on July 2 in 2018. He was killed while engaged in sticking posters. The CPM was very active in collecting funds for the family to fulfil the slain victim’s dream of building a house. Fund was collected under the leadership of CPM district committee. The party bought 10.5 cents of land to build the house. The foundation stone was laid by party state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. An amount of Rs 72, 12, 548 was collected for constructing the house. Rs 38,90,750 was spent for the house and the land. Rs 25 lakh has been deposited in the joint account of his parents and Rs 10 lakh in his sister’s name.
