Houseboat catches fire; five people including three tourists rescued

KOLLAM: A houseboat has caught fire at Kannittakadavu near Panmana in Chavara. Three foreigners and two crew members on the boat were rescued. The houseboat was completely gutted. The incident took place today at 5:00 pm. Three German nationals were on their way from Alappuzha to Kollam. All three tourists and two crew members were rescued on a small boat before the fire intensified.

The foreign tourists are Richard, Andreas and Valente. The boat was completely burnt down soon after the tourists were brought to the shore. The fire force unit of Kollam and Karunagappally Chavara reached and extinguished the fire. The tourist group was planning to go to Varkala by car after landing in Kollam.
