CHENNAI: Prominent film star Sanam Shetty has alleged that women are facing violence like 'casting couch' in the Tamil film industry as well. The actress also demanded a detailed investigation to ensure the safety of actors working in Tamil films.

"I have often faced such experiences. Many films were rejected when I realized that I would have to give in. Thank you to Justice Hema for investigating such a very serious issue and to the actresses who took the initiative," Sanam said.

Sanam has also decided to organize a protest against the killing of a woman doctor in Kolkata and against exploitation in the film industry. She clarified this to the media when she visited the City Police Commissioner's office seeking permission to hold a rally near Valluvar Kottam.

The actress said that this rally is for the safety of women across India and to stop the increasing cases of rape. Navina Nangayyar Foundation Founder and Managing Trustee G Uma Maheshwari and General Secretary MS Singha Tamizhachi were also present at the press conference along with Sanam. Sanam Shetty stated that the city police commissioner has told to give the date for holding the rally.
