Four-month pregnant woman’s body found inside well; lover arrested

COIMBATORE: A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his 21-year-old pregnant girlfriend and dumping her body in a well. Konkan Palayam native Lokesh (23) has been arrested. The two fell in love while they were studying in a private college in Gopichettipalayam.

Lokesh works in a private IT company. The woman asked him to marry her after she got pregnant. But the accused refused. Then both of them decided to have an abortion without their parents’ knowledge.

Last Thursday, they went to the hospital, but the doctors told them abortion is not possible as it had exceeded four month of pregnancy. Then Lokesh went to his grandmother's house in Konkarpalayam along with his girlfriend. The accused said that the girlfriend’s mother had called her on the phone and she told her that she would reach home soon.

The accused told the police that when he went out to buy food, he found his girlfriend hanging and was afraid that the police would arrest him. So, he stuffed her body in a sack and dumped it into a well. But it is reported that the police did not believe Lokesh's statement.
