NEW DELHI: A MiG-29 fighter jet of the Air Force crashed in Agra on Monday. The plane crashed in a field in the village of Kagarol near Agra. After the crash, the jet caught fire. However, the pilot ejected out safely just before the crash. Locals, police and fire force reached the spot after getting the information. The Air Force has announced an investigation into the incident.
It was a routine training sortie for the MiG-29 fighter jet from Adampur in Punjab to Agra. After seeing a technical fault, the pilot escaped by parachute. Alarmingly, it is the second MiG-29 fighter jet to crash in two months. In September, a MiG-29 aircraft crashed in Rajasthan due to a technical problem. The plane was undergoing training in the Bamar sector when it crashed.
