MUMBAI: The newly launched Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express was damaged in an accident after it hit a herd of buffaloes. Vande Bharat Express running between Mumbai Central and Gandhinagar met with an accident on Thursday morning. The train collided with a herd of buffaloes that came on the railway track. The incident took place between Vatva and Maninagar stations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the country's second Vande Bharat Express service on September 30. In the accident, the front part of the train’s engine was damaged. Later it was repaired by the railway officials. No passengers were injured in the incident.
Vande Bharat Express train can run at a maximum speed of 160 kmph. This high-speed train is part of Modi's 'Make in India' initiative. It is India's first semi-high-speed train.
