45-year-old man arrested for marrying 15-year-old girl; accused is father of two adult children

MUNNAR: A 45-year-old man who married a 15-year-old woman is in police custody. Raman of Idamalakkudy tribal village was the one who got arrested. The Munnar police had registered a case under the POCSO Act against the accused for performing child marriage.

Raman, who had been absconding for days, was taken into custody by the police after reaching Idamalakkudy. The investigation was conducted after receiving information that the accused, who had been shifting from place to place, was in Idamalakkudy. The accused is married and the father of two adult children.

He married a 15-year-old girl last January. Both were absconding. When the police team came to know about the incident, they found the girl and took her to safety. After this, the police launched a search for the accused.
