Car carrying drug peddlers try to run over cops, stops after hitting an electric pole, three including girl held with MDMA

ALAPPUZHA: Three including a 19-year-old girl, who tried to escape after trying to run over a police team during vehicle inspection at Alappuzha bypass, were arrested with drugs. 11 grams of MDMA was recovered from the Nissan Micra car in which they were travelling. The three arrested are Hridya of Kolavalloor in Kannur, Albin (21) of Idukki Kanjikuzhi and Nikhil (20) of Kothamangalam in Ernakulam.

The incident happened in Kalarcode. The speeding car tried to run over a team led by Ambalappuzha DySP Biju V Nair. The officers moved to one side and the car losing control stopped after ramming an electric pole. When the occupants of the car tried to escape, they were chased and caught. The police got information that Hridya is staying in Ernakulam and selling MDMA in large quantities in Alappuzha. The accused were caught by a team consisting of south circle inspector Arun Kumar, sub inspector K P Suresh, ASI Naushad, senior CPO Sajeev, CPO Chinku, and Woman CPO Jesy Mol along with the district anti-narcotics squad.
