Dispute between son and friends, father beaten to death while trying to intervene

THODUPUZHA: A man who intervened in a fight between his son and friends were beaten to death. The dead is Raju (47) of Nirmala City of Kattappana in Idukki. Raju’s son Rahul’s friends Hari Kumar (28) of Vazhavara and Joby (25) of Karikuzhy (25) have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Hari Kumar sustained injuries in the dispute. He is undergoing treatment at Idukki Medical College Hospital.

A dispute in repairing a vehicle led to the murder. Rahul had borrowed Hari Kumar’s bike for a journey. In the midst of the journey, the bike got damaged. Rahul and his father promised to pay Rs 5000 to repair the vehicle. A dispute broke out, when Hari Kumar came with his friend Joby for the money. These two were drunk. Though Raju was taken to the hospital, his life could not be saved. The body of Raju is in the mortuary of a private hospital in Kattappana.
