Elderly couple attacked during robbery bid in Palakkad, suspect held

PALAKKAD: An elderly couple was attacked during a robbery attempt at Palappuram in Ottapalam. The robbery attempt was after hacking Sundareswaran (72) of Mundanjara and his wife Ambika Devi (68). The police have taken the suspect, a native of Palani in Tamil Nadu, into police custody.

The couple was attacked early Friday morning. The couple sustained serious injuries and have been admitted at a private hospital in the city.

The suspect has been identified as Balan. The police said they have started an investigation into the incident. More people are suspected to be behind the incident and investigation is underway.
