Expat dies after beaten while returning home from airport; gold smuggling team suspected behind attack

PALAKKAD: An expatriate died after beaten while returning home from Nedumbassery Airport. The dead has been identified as Abdul Jaleel of Agali in Attappady. He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna.

Jaleel reached Nedumbassery from Jeddah on May 15. He was rushed to the hospital by some strangers with serious injuries the other day. Indications are that he was beaten by a gold smuggling team.

His wife said Jaleel had called after arriving at the airport. He informed that he was coming to Perinthalmanna with a friend. He asked her to return when she was going to pick him. There was no information of him after that and so lodged a complaint with the police.
