Father-son who escaped from police custody nabbed from Meppadi

KALPETTA: A father and son, who escaped from the police with handcuffs, have been nabbed. The two nabbed are Ayoob Khan (62) of Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad and staying in a rented house in Palode, and his son Syedali (20) are the two nabbed. The two escaped from Kadakkal in Kollam Sunday early morning.


The two were taken into custody from Sulthan Bathery in connection with a theft case in Palode. They escaped from the police jeep when they were brought to Palode station. When the police jeep reached Kadakkal road at Anchal in Kollam, they said they wanted to urinate. They escaped with the handcuffs.


The accused had committed thefts in more than five shops in and around Palode. After that, the father and son returned home in their Maruti Sen car. After an investigation conducted based on the location of their mobile phones, the accused were taken into custody from Sultan Bathery. The police team consisted of four including a sub inspector.

A search was conducted for them by locals, activists and officers including a circle inspector of Kadakkal, Chithara and Chadayamangalam and Palode stations. A search was conducted using a drone on the suspicion of seeing one of the accused in the Kottukkal agricultural farm. Police dogs were also brought for the search. The Meppadi police took the two into custody this morning based on information that the accused were hiding in a rented house at Meppadi in Wayanad. The Palode police will reach Meppadi and take the accused into custody.
