Father taken into custody for brutally beating up autistic child 

KOCHI: Police have taken into custody a father who brutally beat up his autistic child in Ernakulam. The arrested has been identified as Sudheer. He was taken into custody by the police on a complaint lodged by the child's mother. According to police, Sudheer is an alcoholic who often used to quarrel at home. It is learnt that Sudheer assaulted his autistic son for not obeying his instructions.

The incident took place at Mattancherry Cheralai Kadavu. The Fort Kochi police conducted an inspection at the house after they came across video footage that showed the child getting brutally assaulted by the father. The clippings show Sudheer hitting the 18-year-old with sticks and kicking him after forcing him to stand on his head, the police said. It was the child's mother who recorded the video. Police have recorded her statement in connection with the incident.
