Karipur gold smuggling: Accused including Koduvalli gang leader to be arrested soon, court grants permission to Customs

KOZHIKODE: Customs will arrest 17 people, including Koduvalli gang leader Sufiyan, in the Karipur gold smuggling case. Their arrest will be recorded at the jail. Customs proceedings were initiated after the court allowed the arrest of the accused.

Sufiyan was arrested by Kondotty police earlier last month. The car in which he was traveling was also taken into custody. He was arrested after receiving evidence that he arrived at the Karipur airport and at the scene of the accident on the day which it happened. He is also accused in several gold smuggling cases. Cofeposa has also been charged against him in the past.

He has been convicted in various cases and has been lodged in Thiruvananthapuram and Parappana Agrahara jails. Sufiyan's brother Fijaz was earlier arrested by police. Arjun Ayanki, the main accused in the Karipur gold smuggling case, is currently in jail.
