Kiran's statement that she hung herself in washroom ventilation with bath towel not reliable; police investigating possibility of murder

KOLLAM: The police are investigating the possibility of murder in connection with the death of Vismaya. The police have not taken into confidence the statement of Kiran Kumar that she hung herself in the washroom ventilation with the bath towel. The initial conclusion in the post-mortem report is that it is a suicide. However, the circumstantial evidence has cast doubt on the investigation team from the beginning.

Kiran’s parents told police that when they reached the room, saw him giving first aid to Vismaya. Kiran’s statement was that he lifted her alone found hanging in the ventilation, then untied the rope and gave first aid. The police have not believed both the statements.

The police are also investigating whether Kiran damaged her mobile to destroy evidence. The police will seek his custody for further questioning and collection of evidence. The police will file a plea for his custody only after confirmation of certain suspicions regarding the death. The police surgeon who performed the post mortem will be taken to Kiran Kumar's house for more examination.

The police are also taking seriously the remarks of Kiran's parents against Vismaya and her family. Even after Vismaya's death, references like Kiran did not like the car gifted to him and the gold as mentioned was not given, are seen in dailies.
