Mystery shrouds death of three-year-old boy; mother in custody, search for stepfather who fled after taking him to hospital

MALAPPURAM: Mystery shrouds death of a three-and-a half-year-old boy in Tirur. Sheikh Siraj, son of Mumtaz Beevi of Bengal died last evening. There were some hit marks on his head. The boy’s mother has been taken into custody. A search is on for Arman, the boy’s stepfather who fled after bringing him to the hospital.

The boy was taken to the hospital with serious injuries on his body. On suspicion, the hospital authorities informed the police. Soon Arman fled from the hospital. Only after post-mortem, it will be known whether it is a murder or not.

Sheikh Siraj is the son of Sheik Rafeeq, former husband of Mumtaz. The two got divorced a year ago. After the divorce, she got married to Arman. The couple moved to Tirur last month. They live in a quarters at Illathappadam in Tirur.
