POCSO case against Monson, sexually abuses 17-year-old girl after promising educational help

KOCHI: A POCSO case has been registered against Monson Mavunkal, accused in the antiques fraud case. A complaint alleged that Monson Mavunkal sexually abused a minor girl after promising to provide her with facilities including further education. The complaint said the girl was sexually abused at Monson's house in Vyloppilly Nagar in Kochi and at another house in Kochi. Based on this, the Ernakulam North police registered a case against Monson under various sections including rape.

The complaint lodged by the girl and her mother asserted that she was sexually abused when she was 17 years old. The crime branch team investigating Monson's present fraud cases is likely to investigate this case as well. The girl and her mother lodged the complaint the other day. The girl in her statement said that she did not lodge the complaint for so long out of fear as she knew of Monson's top connections.
