Police trying to rescue DYFI activist involved in Balussery mob attack, two left supporters exempted from case

KOZHIKODE: The police is trying to save a DYFI activist and a left loyalist involved in Balussery mob attack. Surpassing intense political pressure, the police arrested DYFI supporter Najaf Faris and another left loyalist. Those including the two were also remanded.

The FIR of the police said except they, the 11th and 12th accused, all the other remanded have a role in the attack. Sections including murder attempt and charges like SC-ST Act were imposed against the accused. Nine people were arrested in the case.

SDPI-League workers surrounded Jishnu, a Dalit and a DYFI leader in the middle of the night on the charge of tearing a flux board and beat him brutally for two hours. Seriously injured Jishnu was admitted at the Balussery Taluk Hospital and then to medical college hospital.


Jishnu was brutally attacked when he was returning after attending his friend’s birthday party. They stopped his bike and asked him, 'Aren’t you who destroyed the boards of SDPI?' They also drowned his head in the water of the nearby stream many times and suffocated him. In the beginning, there were only a few people in the group but later more were summoned. They later summoned the police and handed him over to them.
