Priest tries to sexually abuse four-year-old girl, goes into hiding after mother lodges complaint

ALUVA: The Edathala police registered a case against a priest on the complaint of trying to sexually abuse a four-year-old girl. The case is against Siby Varghese (33), a native of Varappuzha and co-priest of Saint Mary Magdalene Church in Maradu.

Police said the priest was a regular visitor to a house in Kuzhivelippadi in Edathala panchayat. The mother testified in the court that he had tried to molest the child twice in the house. The police registered a case as per the court order. The priest went into hiding when the police started the probe. The Edathala police said they are conducting a detailed investigation.
