KOCHI: Kalamassery police on Tuesday recorded the arrest of owner Junais, who was taken into custody in connection with the seizure of rotten meat from an illegally-run chicken sales centre. He was caught by the officials from Ponnani on Monday night. Nizabin, his aide, was also arrested by the police.

The preliminary assumption of the police is that the 'Tsunami meat' comes to Kerala from Tamil Nadu. Nizabin is the middleman who brings 'Tsunami meat' from places including Pollachi. He was found after checking the phone calls and bank account records of Junais. Inspector PR Santhosh said that Junais, who was absconding, was caught with the help of the locals through a mobile phone-based investigation.

Junais was running a chicken meat sales center at Othukumpuram in Palakkad's Mannarkkad after renting a house. The health department of Kalamassery municipality seized more than 500 kg of rotten chicken from here on January 12.
