Skeleton found in cable pit of railway bridge in Vallarpadam

KOCHI: A skeleton was found in the cable pit of the railway bridge over the Kochi lake leading to the Vallarpadam container terminal. The body estimated to be about six months old is suspected to be that of a woman.

The children who came to the bridge yesterday informed the police. The skull and bones are in a separate state. These were collected and transferred to the forensic section of Kalamassery Medical College.

Fifty feet high, the skeleton was found in the middle of a lake near Don Bosco in Vaduthala. There were no flesh or clothes. Brown silk thread and a large button were found nearby.

From Perandoor to Vallarpadam, the route goes over islands and lakes.

Container trains rarely ply the route. You have to climb the stairs on the side of the pillar to get to the tracks. This restricted area is a stronghold of anti-social and anti-drug mafias.

Only those who know the place well can venture here. There are no CCTV cameras in this place.

A team of ten members has been formed comprising officials from various police stations for a thorough investigation.
