KOZHIKODE: It's been a while since the locals got suspicious about the rented house in Kuttikkattoor near the medical college. That suspicion proved to be true when two migrant workers were caught with three and a half kilograms of ganja stored here. Muhammad Salim, a native of Uttar Pradesh, and Habibullah Sheikh, a native of West Bengal, were arrested by the medical college police.
The medical college police and Kozhikode City DANSAF team seized the ganja from their rented house near AWH Engineering College, Kuttikkattoor. The police said that the two are the leaders of a gang that brings large quantities of ganja from Bengal and markets it in the city.
The police had received a complaint that drug gangs were operating in the Kuttikkattoor area. The locals were also suspicious that the drug trade was going on around the rented house. Following this the police were monitoring the migrant workers in this area.
The police reached the migrant workers after the surveillance. Ganja was seized when the police conducted a search in the house where they live. The arrested accused will be produced in court. The police said that they will interrogate the accused in detail and check whether they are getting help from people in Kerala for ganja trafficking.
