Thalassery RTO imposes Rs 10,000 fine on bus for making students wait in rain, bus taken into custody

KOZHIKODE: The RTO has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on a bus in Thalassery for making students wait in the rain. The action is against a private bus called 'Sigma'. Thalassery police have taken the bus into custody.

The Child Rights Commission has sought a report on the incident. The incident took place when the bus, which was going from Kozhikode to Kannur, reached the Thalassery bus stand at around nine o'clock yesterday morning. Despite the heavy rain, students were allowed to board the vehicle only when the bus was about to depart after all other passengers had boarded.

The incident came to light after footage of students waiting in the rain for permission from the bus staff went viral on social media.
