'Went out since condition of children's home was bad', youths tried to sexually abuse girls after giving them alcohol

KOZHIKODE: The police will register a case against two youths in custody in connection with the disappearance of girls from a children's home in Vellimadukunnu. The case will be registered either under the Juvenile Justice Act or the sections of the POCSO act. The girls told the police that the youths tried to sexually abuse them after giving them alcohol.


Police have also identified the youth who gave money to the girls to go to Bengaluru. The money was given by a young man from Malappuram Edakkara. The girls told police they left because the condition of the children's home was bad.

Six girls had gone missing from the children's home. Later, two of them were found in Bengaluru and the rest were found at Edakkara in Malappuram. Two youths who accompanied the girls in Bengaluru were taken into custody.

The girls also told the police that the plan was to go from Bangalore to Goa. They were brought to Kozhikode late last night. One of the girls has tested positive for Covid. Others will also undergo a medical examination. They will be produced in court later.
