10-year old Akshitha dances despite her weak left leg; an example of sheer determination

KASARGOD: Akshitha was born as the third child among the triplets and had a weak left leg from the birth. She was unable to fix her leg on ground and parents were worried about her future. But now ten-year-old Akshitha, a fifth grader dances at school programs and other local venues only because of her determination.

Akshitha walked on her knees because of her weak left leg. One day she told her mother Sandhya that she wanted to learn to dance, her eyes were filled with tears. She made the same demand with her father Dayanandan. Seeing their daughter's interest the parents decided to fulfill their daughter's wish.

The first steps were learnt by watching videos from YouTube and by watching a recorded dance videos. She practiced holding her mother's hands together to prevent from falling. She practices dance for one hour a day. She also participates in many school races despite falling several times. Her aim is to be a good dancer and to start a music band. Leeja Dinoop, her dance teacher fully supports her.

She was born on October 11, 2011 at Pariyaram Co-operative Hospital. Aishni and Abhiroop are her siblings. All three are studying in fifth standard in Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Annur. She performed dance on 16 stages. Akshitha's condition was due to the lack of oxygen at the time of her birth. The doctors advised her to continue dancing as it causes changes in her muscle strenghth.
