12-year-old boy hit with bike for allegedly stealing guava, fracture in leg; minister orders investigation

MALAPPURAM: A twelve-year-old boy was brutally beaten up for allegedly stealing guava. The incident took place yesterday evening at Vazhayankada of Perinthalmanna Aliparambu panchayat. The boy said that the land owner hit him with his bike and kicked him alleging theft. The boy’s leag was fractured in the attack and is now undergoing treatment.

The children who were playing at the time of the incident said that the owner went after them and hit them with his bike, accusing them of stealing guavas. Meanwhile, the 12-year-old boy fell down while running. The boy also stated that he was kicked and beaten by the owner. Other children ran away and informed the relatives and locals.

Following the incident, the police registered a case on the complaint of the relatives and started investigation. Health Minister Veena George also ordered a probe. The minister directed the director of Women and Child Development department to investigate and submit a report. She also directed to ensure necessary treatment and legal protection for the boy.
