54 more people confirmed with Omicron in Kerala as tally rises to 761

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George on Friday said that 54 more people in the state have been confirmed with the Omicron variant of Covid-19. Districtwise, 8 cases were confirmed in Thiruvananthapuram, 6 each in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kannur and Kollam, Kottayam 5, Alappuzha 4, Kozhikode 3, Palakkad 2, Wayanad and Kasaragod 1. One person is a native of Karnataka who came from the UAE. 35 came from low risk countries and 7 from high risk countries. 11 people contracted Omicron through contact.

So far, a total of 761 people in the state have been confirmed with Omicron. 518 came from low risk countries and 115 came from high risk countries. A total of 99 people were infected through contact. 29 people from other states were confirmed with the Covid variant, said the minister.
