All vaccines are provided by central governments free of cost, this is nothing new: CM Vijayan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has pointed out that central governments have so far provided vaccines against various diseases free of cost. "Covid is a new thing but vaccines are not new," he said. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan pointed out that we have used vaccines against many contagious diseases in the country and all of them have been given to the people by central governments free of cost.

The CM was replying to questions from the media. "Similarly, the states have also given the vaccine to the people free of cost, he said. There is no point in saying that it will cost to deal with Covid alone. This is the position taken by the state government from the beginning. That is why the state decided to give the vaccine for free", he said.

"The central government should not have one price and the state another. That's completely wrong. Don't all governments want the same thing? Can private companies be allowed to price as they see fit. Don't you have to adjust it?", asked the CM.

The CM added that the Supreme Court criticized because there is no regulation from the central government on this matter.
