Balabhaskar's death: Sunil gives decisive statement

KOCHI: The Crime Branch, on Monday, questioned one Sunil Kumar in connection with the accidental death of violinist Balabhaskar. Sunil is currently in remand in connection with a gold smuggling case.

But Sunil Kumar told the Crime Branch police that he was not very close to Balabhaskar and it was Prakashan Thampi who introduced him to the violinist, in order to help him (Balabhaskar) sell his old car.

Sunil Kumar also revealed that he went to Dubai according to the instruction of Prakahan and Vishnu, another accused in the gold smuggling case.

The investigation team questioned Sunil at the jail, where he is in remand.

Meanwhile, Balabhaskar’s former Finance Manager Vishnu Somasundaram surrendered before Ernakulam DRI office in connection with the gold smuggling case at around 10:30 morning today (Monday).

The other day the high court had rejected the anticipatory bail plea submitted by him and asked him to surrender before the officials. The DRI had found out that Vishnu Somasundran was the main accused in the gold smuggling case.

The DRI’s inference is that Vishnu had been in charge of the financial dealings of gold smuggling carried out by other accused namely Adv M Biju, Prakash Thampi and Sunil Kumar, in Dubai and elsewhere.
