KOZHIKODE: The Punjab National Bank has returned 2.5 crore rupees that went missing from Kozhikode Corporation's bank account. The bank returned the money after it was found that MP Rijil, the previous manager of the bank's Link Road branch, swindled the money from the corporation's account. This amount has been transferred to the same account from where the money went missing. The money was found to be missing during the corporation's auditing. Following this, the corporation lodged a complaint with the police and the bank.

The preliminary investigation of the bank revealed that only 98 lakh rupees had been stolen from the account. However, the corporation said that it lost Rs 2 crore 35 lakh. Following this, the bank conducted an internal audit and it was found that the former manager had transferred two and a half crore rupees to his own account. With this, the bank decided to return the entire lost amount to the corporation. The current bank manager has filed a complaint against Rijil for embezzling money.
