Change in Covid testing method, ten-fold tests in high risk areas

covid

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of lockdown concessions and the persistence of the third wave threat of Covid, a special testing method is being launched on a local body basis to prevent the spread of the disease. The decision was made to test ten times the number of patients in high-risk areas. The test is based on an average TPR of one week.

If the weekly TPR is above 30 percent, tests ten times the number of cases over the last three days will be done.

3000 tests will be conducted in the following days in the local body limits where there are 100 cases for three consecutive days. As the TPR decreases, so does the test.

Mobile testing labs will also be used if required. Institutions, industrial establishments, factories and special areas that require further monitoring will be monitored by the nearest health center.

Testing method

TPR 20 - 30%

Six-fold tests of cases in the last three days.

TPR 2- 20%

Three-fold tests of cases in the last three days.

TPR below 2%

Five-fold tests of cases in the last three days.
