Congress leaders, who attacked business establishment for not paying expected donation, suspended from party

donation

KOLLAM: Three Congress workers, who attacked a business establishment for not contributing expected amount for Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi, have been suspended from the party. A vegetable shop owned by Anas was attacked by Congress workers in Kollam's Kunnikode last day. In connection with this, Salim Zainuddin, Vilaakkudi West constituency president, Kunnikode Shahjahan, a DCC member, and H Aneesh Khan, Youth Congress state secretary, have been suspended from the party.

The local leaders were angered by the non-payment of the amount demanded as donation in connection with the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The shop owner said that he would pay Rs 500, even though the leaders asked for Rs 2,000 as a deposit. Angered by this, they threw the goods out of the vegetable shop. Following this, KPCC president and others came forward to condemn the incident of violence. The shop owner has lodged a complaint with Kunnikode police.

But the Vilakkudi West constituency committee president says that they have not destroyed the goods and CPM leaders are creating problems to criticize Rahul's 'Yatra'. Rahul Gandhi's tour of Kollam district resumed this morning.
