THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The health department has taken stern action in the incident where a young woman died after falling from an under-repair lift in the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC). The action was taken against three employees responsible for the incident. While one employee was dismissed, two others were suspended.
Nadeera, who suffered critical injuries after falling from the lift, died on Thursday morning. She had suffered serious injuries to her brain and thigh bone when the lift at the hospital building suddenly collapsed and fell deep down after she stepped on its platform without knowing that it was under repair.
Minister visits Medical College
Meanwhile, Health Minister Veena George visited Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. The minister also directed the authorities to intensify preparations to deal with the third wave of Covid. Emphasis should be placed on Covid treatment as well as non-Covid treatment.
