Despite being skeptical of Monson's dealings did not initiate probe due to absence of complaints; no transaction took place in my presence, says DIG Surendran

KOCHI: DIG Surendran said that he had a good relationship with Monson Mavunkal and that Monson used to attend most of his family functions. Surendran said that he met Monson while serving as the Kochi commissioner and that they had been good friends since then. He however added that he had no contact with Monson in the recent past since he became skeptical about Monson's dealings. The DIG, who said that he did not know about Monson's illegal dealings, added that he did not inquire further into his dealings due to the absence of complaints.

Meanwhile, the DIG denied the allegation that the complainant had handed over the money to Monson in his presence. "That allegation is not true. No transaction took place in my presence," he said.
