KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summons to former chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter T Veena in the monthly payoff case. The summons issued has directed her to appear before the ED on June 12. The ED is sending summons to nine including Veena today. The CMRL officials are also in the list.

The special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Kochi had ordered the transfer of a copy of the related documents in the chargesheet filed by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) in the case to the ED. The direction was in the application filed by the ED.

The ED is investigating whether there were any embezzlement transactions between CMRL and T Veena's company Exalogic Solutions. With the receipt of the copies of the documents, further proceedings including interrogation will be expedited. The direction is that all the documents submitted by the SFIO, including Veena's statement, account information and information on the interrogation of CMRL officials, should be provided along with the charge sheet.

The SFIO investigated the financial fraud in which CMRL, a public sector partnership, transferred Rs 2.78 crore to Exalogic in the name of non-existent services and as a loan. The ED will then receive 134 sets of documents in the final report submitted in 54 volumes. The ED approached the PMLA court seeking the documents after the high court division bench granted permission to continue the investigation. The SFIO did not oppose the ED's demand. The court did not consider CMRL's objection.
