Extremely heavy rainfall likely in state today, orange alert in four districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in the state. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast isolated rain in all districts in the next three hours. Orange alert was declared in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod.

Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad and Wayanad. Authorities have asked fishermen not to venture into the sea.

Heavy rainfall is caused by cyclones in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal and strong westerly winds. Authorities have warned of heavy rains to continue in the state till Saturday. Orange alert has been sounded in districts from Thrissur to Kasargod tomorrow.
