THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the introduction of social security cess of two rupees, petrol in Kerala will cost Rs 7 and diesel will cost Rs 10 more than the price in Karnataka. In Tamilnadu too, there is a difference of 2 to 4 rupees.
Petrol prices in Thiruvananthapuram increased from Rs 107.71 to Rs 109.42 yesterday. Diesel also increased from 96.52 to 98.24 rupees.
After the Centre reduced the price by Rs 5, the states also reduced the prices, and there was a price difference of Rs 5 with Karnataka and two and a half rupees with Tamil Nadu due to the difference in VAT. Apart from that, an additional cess of two rupees was introduced in Kerala yesterday. With that, in Karnataka border towns like Gundalpet petrol costs Rs 102, diesel Rs 87.95 and in Kutta petrol price is Rs 102.89 and diesel Rs 89.13. Beyond Thiruvananthapuram, in Nagercoil, the price of petrol is Rs 103.92 and diesel is Rs 95.55, in Coimbatore it is Rs 103.21 and diesel is Rs 94.81. Beyond Kasaragod, in Mangalore, the price of petrol is Rs 101.11 and diesel is Rs 87.11.
