Girls missing from Kozhikode found in Bengaluru, one in police custody as others fled; two youths also taken into custody

KOZHIKODE: Six girls, who were missing from Children's Home in Kozhikode's Vellimadukunnu, were found in Bengaluru. Only one of them was taken into police custody. The other five fled.

The girls were found in a hotel run by Malayalis in Madiwala. The children had come for a room at the hotel. They did not have any identification documents. The girls were then detained by suspected hotel staff. Hotel staff said five people escaped when police arrived. One was handed over to the police. Madiwala police have taken into custody two youths who were with the girls. The arrested are residents of Thrissur and Kollam.

Six girls went missing from a children's home yesterday evening. All the six missing persons are from Kozhikode district. Two of them are sisters. The state child rights commission had registered a case in the incident. Based on the news, commission chairman KV Manojkumar voluntarily registered the case. The district police chief was directed to intensify the investigation and report the incident. The commission also directed the district child protection officer to submit an immediate report on the incident.
