Government appoints former Vigilance chief M R Ajith Kumar as ADGP Protection of civil rights

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has given a fresh placement to former Vigilance chief ADGP MR Ajith Kumar. An ex-cadre post was created and he was appointed as Additional Director General of Police, Protection of Civil Rights. This post is equivalent in status to the ADGP post at the Police Headquarters. Ajith Kumar has been appointed for one year.

The government has removed MR Ajith Kumar from the post of Vigilance director following allegations that he had contacted Shaj Kiran, who had acted as a mediator in the gold smuggling case. Instead, IG H Venkatesh was given the post of Director of Vigilance. Swapna alleged that Shaj Kiran was in constant touch with MR Ajith Kumar the then Law and Order ADGP. Ajith Kumar was then removed from his post as instructed by the Chief Minister.
