Government is committed to implement welfare schemes for expatriates, says Governor; Loka Kerala Sabha begins

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said that the government is committed to formulate and implement welfare schemes for expatriates. He said this in his speech during the inauguration of the third edition of the Loka Kerala Sabha. He welcomed everyone to the function in Malayalam and said he is happy to inaugurate it. Speaker MB Rajesh said that it is unfortunate to make statements degrading Loka Kerala Sabha.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan did not attend the inauguration function due to health reasons. UDF MLAs also boycotted the function.

The Loka Kerala Sabha has 351 members. It consists of 169 members of legislative assembly and 189 expatriates. Out of the expatriates, 104 persons are from outside India, 36 persons from other states, 12 returnees and 30 eminent expatriates. In addition to these, there will be other dignitaries from various expatriate fields. The Loka Kerala Sabha will conclude on June 18.
