covid

KOCHI: The Kerala High court has asked the police not to behave badly with the public in the name of Covid checking. Legal action can be taken against those not wearing masks. However, no one should be physically harmed and should not behave badly with anyone, the division bench said.

Car driver Vaishak of Kozhikode approached the court pointing that he was taken into custody and assaulted by the Ernakulam Munambam police for not wearing mask. He requested to register case against the two cops who took him into custody on April 16. The court demanded police chief Lokanath Behra to investigate the incident and submit the report at the earliest.

The police have tightened checking as part of restrictions imposed till Sunday. Strict action including fine will be imposed on those stepping out unnecessarily.
