KOCHI: The Kerala High Court Friday cancelled government’s action of releasing 209 prisoners in 2011 before completing jail term. The order was that of the high court full bench. Convicts who had undergone ten years of imprisonment were released in 2011. Those released without undergoing 14 years jail term will have to suffer the remaining term. The court has asked the governor to re-examine the information on it and submit the details within six months. The issue reached the high court after governor returned government’s recommendation to release 36 prisoners recently. Advocate general C P Sudhakara Prasad had informed the high court that the government has the authority for it and the then government of 2011 had released prisoners on February 2.
