Heat wave warning withdrawn, Kerala to receive summer rains in coming days

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The heat wave warning was withdrawn in Kerala as the temperature dropped a little. This warning was earlier issued in Palakkad, Alappuzha and Kozhikode districts. The daytime heat warning will continue until Monday. High temperature may reach up to 39 degrees Celsius in Palakkad district. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature will rise to 38 in Kollam, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts, 37 in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Kannur and 36 in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kasaragod districts.

It is expected that summer heat will decrease and widespread summer rains will be received in the coming days. There is a possibility of more rain in the central and northern districts. There will be isolated rain in the southern districts.

According to the IMD, there will be average rainfall in the post-summer monsoon.

Swell waves, orange alert

Red alert for high waves and sea advancing into the coast in Kerala has been withdrawn. The orange alert will remain in place until tonight. INCOIS has said that there is a possibility of sea advancing into the coast. Waves can be up to 1.5 meters high. Coastal residents and fishermen should be especially careful. Fishing is prohibited on Kerala coast. Boats should be tied up. Excursions and visits to the sea are completely prohibited.
