THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In order to make the examination process transparent and to prevent marks irregularities, the University of Kerala will affix QR code on the answer sheet of each student before the examination. It is prepared by recording the matters right from admission. The process up to the issuance of the certificate will be made available online.

This is the first time this system has been introduced in the universities of Kerala. After the assessment, teachers can scan the QR code and record the marks online. The workload related to conducting the examination can be reduced and the results can be announced earlier. This system will be implemented from the first semester examination of about five hundred students who have secured admission in PG New Generation Programs and Karyavattom Engineering College this academic year. This is made possible by the new software 'Student Life Cycle Management System'.

Colleges will send the list of students in each class to the University examination section after a three-level inspection of the class tutor, head of department and principal. After the final inspection, a QR code will be prepared for each student and handed over to the colleges. College authorities will paste this on answer sheets of the respective students two hours before the examination.

The new software was developed to be able to include all the information from a student taking admission to completing the course and getting a certificate. There will be information including biodata, teachers, marks for each semester and examination centre. The software was developed by Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) based in Palakkad. The cost is Rs 1.17 crore.

Get provisional certificate online

With the introduction of the new software, students will be able to get the provisional certificate and mark list online. Hall tickets will also be available. It will be very helpful for the students as the provisional certificate will be available online after the announcement of the results.
