Kerala records 14,233 COVID cases on Friday, test positivity rate at 13.29; 173 deaths

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 14,233 COVID-19 cases on Friday. Among these, 13,433 persons developed the disease through contact, including 626 cases without an identified source of infection. 108 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 66 health workers contracted the disease on Friday.

15,355 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 1,34,001 active cases in the state.

The state confirmed 173 deaths due to the virus on Friday with the toll rising to 10,804.

District wise breakup of positive cases:

Thiruvananthapuram 2060, Ernakulam 1629, Kollam 1552, Malappuram 1413, Palakkad 1355, Thrissur 1291, Kozhikode 1006, Alappuzha 845, Kannur 667, Kottayam 662, Idukki 584, Kasargod 499, Pathanamthitta 479, Wayanad 191.

1,07,096 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 13.29.

With the addition of 5 regions and the removal of 20, there are 880 hotspots in the state.
