They taught us not to join Indian Army as you will have to kill people from your own religion, religious study is dangerous, says Aksar Ali

KOLLAM: Aksar Ali, who was attacked for quitting Islam, has now revealed more horrors of religious studies. Askar studied religion for 12 years before quitting it. Askar was in Kollam yesterday to speak to a rationalist organization about his experiences while studying religion. He had recently lodged a complaint with the police alleging that he had been abducted and assaulted by some people in order to prevent him from attending the event. Aksar had said that a 10-member gang from Malappuram, which belongs to his community, is behind this.

"They taught us to hate other communities and not to join the Indian Army. If you join the army, you will have to kill the terrorists who are infiltrating India. This means that they are forced to kill people of their own religion. They say it is against the principles of Islam to kill another Muslim. This is a really dangerous form of education", Aksar said.

"Not only that. They also want to spread these ideas to other Muslims in the community. This is extremely dangerous. Banning an organization will not help prevent this catastrophe. Islam itself is fascism," he said.

Aksar completed his religious studies from a leading religious institute in Malappuram. He was there for 12 years. Aksar spoke about what he was taught here and his experiences.

Meanwhile, on April 30, his family had lodged a complaint with the police stating that Askar has gone missing. Following this, the Malappuram police produced Aksar before a magistrate on Monday night. The court ruled that Aksar Ali is allowed to live according to his wishes after he made it clear that he doesn't want to go with his family as they are against him quitting the religion.
