KOLLAM: Minister J Chinchu Rani visited the house of Midhun of Thevalakkara Boys School, who was electrocuted on Thursday. She expressed regret for her remarks. The minister said that she could have avoided the remark and that it was a slip of the tongue and made these remarks inadvertently. The minister said yesterday that the teachers could not be blamed for the student's death.
The boy came in contact with a live wire while trying to take his friend’s slipper which had fallen on top of the cycle shed. Even after his classmates warned him, he tried to retrieve the slipper. The minister who visited Midhun’s house, consoled his grandmother Maniyamma, father Manu and brother Sujin.
The accident happened Thursday morning at 9.15 am. He was immediately taken to the Sasthamkotta Taluk Hospital, but his life could not be saved. Midhun is the eldest son of Manu of Vilandhra and Suja. Suja is abroad. She was informed of the relatives through a video call. Suja will arrive tomorrow. His body will be cremated after that.
