THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Public Works Minister PA Mohammed Riyas recently stirred up a controversy by stating that MLAs should not accompany contractors to his office. Now, the CPM has extended support to the minister.
CPM state secretary A Vijayaraghavan said the minister's statement was in line with the government's general stand and that the minister had the full support of the party in this regard. He added the government is of the view that things should be done quickly without recommendations.
With the issue becoming a controversy, Riyas on Friday defended his statement on the nexus between some officials and government contractors. The minister also denied reports which claimed that he was reprimanded during the meeting of legislators.
