NEW DELHI: Former minister K T Jaleel moved the Supreme Court in a case of nepotism. He had approached the Supreme Court against the Lokayukta decision and the high court verdict. He wants the high court verdict to be stayed.
His plea stated that the action of the Lokayukta was a denial of natural justice and that the case should be considered at the earliest. The Lokayukta's order asked the chief minister to take action against Jaleel who was found guilty of abuse of power, favouritism, nepotism and violation of oath of office.
The Lokayukta had ruled that Jaleel was not eligible to continue in the ministry. Jaleel then approached the high court seeking quashing of the Lokayukta order, but the court ruled that the order was not wrong. The high court said the order was issued in compliance with all Lokayukta rules. Jaleel resigned while the argument in the case was continuing.
