NEW DELHI: Kerala shows the model for other states in the utilisation of vaccines. Kerala has witnessed near zero per cent wastage in vaccine utilisation. Whereas RTI plea shows that 23 per cent of the vaccines given to other states were wasted based on the data collected until April 11.
The most number of vaccines were wasted in Tamil Nadu (12.10%). Other states followed by Tamil Nadu are Haryana(9.74%), Punjab(8.12%), Manipur(7.8%) and Telangana(7.55%). But when it comes to states which have utilised most of the vaccine efficiently, Kerala stands the foremost followed by West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Goa, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep.
One vile of vaccine have 10 doses. If one vile is opened then all of it should be used within four hours. If any vaccine is left in the vile then it will become useless. In this way, 23 per cent of vaccines were wasted in total by different states. Among the 10.34 crore vaccines distributed until April 11, 44.78 lakh doses of vaccines were wasted.
12.71 crore vaccine doses were distributed in the country as of now. As per the latest statistics till today 7 AM, 12,71 29,113 vaccines were distributed in 18,83,241 sessions. Yesterday 32,76,555 doses of vaccines were distributed.
